Dispersal age

Use this measurement type to record the age when young permanently leave the parent, parental group, social group or any associated territories. Young that become independent of the parent but remain within the same population or social group should not be recorded as having dispersed.

Note that, for many mammal species, dispersal may only ever occur in one sex: users should therefore be particularly precise in specifying the sex of individuals along with dispersal age data.
